White Screen-print on Triblend T-Shirt
In the past my university rocketry team had only hoodies, that were only good for the fall and winter. I decided to produce t-shirts that would make messy and sweaty work more bearable, while still allowing the team members to wear their identity on their backs.
While the retro branding diverges from the team's techno styling, I kept the same future-seeking idealism and scrappiness. I drew the front logo, taking inspiration from retro aerospace company logos, and incorporating a plane's airfoil into the design with hand lettered garage typography. On the back is my artwork of a rat launching into space on his sweet ride after planting a flag on the moon, in a style that fuses together vintage hot rod and space race culture.
I chose a shirt of a polyester, cotton, and rayon blend to maximum comfort, and collaborated with a local screen-printer to manufacture a socially conscious product that would last.
